Master Chief fans have some new information to chew on as 343 Industries provided updates on Halo Infinite via a lengthy blog post on Friday morning.

Chief among the updates is the game’s “sandbox” content — described as “all of the vehicles, equipment, weapons, and objects that the player will interact with” — has been completed and is now in the “bug-testing phase” of development.

“All of our launch content is in-game and being played daily,” lead sandbox designer Quinn DelHoyo said. Despite the promising update, DelHoyo also cautioned hopeful audiences that “it takes a strong effort to get something from 90 percent to a full 100 percent ship quality.”

The blog also provides in-engine renders of many of Infinite’s weaponry, including the Needler and the new COS48 Shotgun, as well as the philosophy behind development of Halo known as the “Combat Doctrine.” The document lays out the main points of focus for making the Halo universe, including the tools of engagement, the “lone wolf” mentality conquering challenges alone and the flow of combat commonly referred to as the dance.

“The Halo Combat Doctrine is a document that establishes core Halo gameplay philosophy,” DelHoyo said. “It outlines our principles of what must be true when playing in Halo’s sandbox and specifically, the moment-to-moment combat.”
