Here's what else is happening in the world of mobile games.
Genshin Impact Continues Chart Dominance
A new report from Sensor Tower reveals the mobile version of Genshin Impact has generated nearly $874 million since it launched in September. Over that same time frame, only Honor of Kings and PUBG Mobile surpassed that number with $1.2 billion and $1.1 billion earned respectively. Pokemon GO comes in fourth place with $651 million and Roblox follows with $579 million.
Pokémon Go Debuts New Season
The Season of Legends kicked off in Pokémon Go this week and will host specific spawns and rewards until its conclusion on June 1. Holding true to their promise to deliver three month periods called "seasons" based on a specific theme, this new season comes after the Season of Celebration and features legendary Pokémon like Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus in raids. New Mega-Evolved Pokémon are also set to release and monsters like Foongus, Tangela, Miltank, Ducklett and Ponyta will appear more frequently for those in the Northern Hemisphere. Players in the Southern Hemisphere can expect monsters like Paras, Yanma, Shelmet, Vulpix and Zigzagoon.
Jetpack Joyride 2 Soars Onto Phones
Jetpack Joyride is getting a second life as Jetpack Joyride 2: Bullet Rush was announced this past weekend. Developer Halfbrick Studios is bringing the series back after a 10 year gap since the original released back in Sept. 2011. The endless runner sees main character Barry sprinting and flying through fast moving side-scrolling levels as players tap to use his jetpack and avoid obstacles. A soft launch in Australia, New Zealand and Canada started this week and it has not been said when the rest of the world will get a chance to download the sequel.
At the end of last year, Halfbrick Games released Fruit Ninja 2 after nearly a decade since the original's release.
Release Dates to Look Out For
Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! now has a release date. Look for it on iOS and Android on March 25. The mobile game features over 50 bosses across 12 worlds.
Blade & Soul Revolution is now out on the App Store and Google Play. Netmarble's latest open world mobile RPG features five different classes to choose from and a variety of modes for PvP battles.
Updates This Week
Two new Champions were teased in a new motion comic for Marvel Contest of Champions. The upcoming fighters include Odin and Mangog.
BTS World just received a brand new chapter focusing on Jung Kook as well as the addition of new 5-star cards.
An outline for updates planned for March in Dragalia Lost was revealed, including the Rise of the Sinister Dominion content update focusing on Lilith the demon. The second half of Chapter 18 is also set to release sometime this month. There will be a celebration for the game's two and a half year anniversary on March 27.
Zynga in the News
Mobile games studio Zynga acquired developer Echtra Games this week. The team is responsible for games like the Torchlight series and is composed of members who worked on Diablo and Diablo II. You can read more about the report and the new cross-platform RPG the team is set to work on here.
